Frequently Asked Questions

You can request the system to resend SMS containing a new OTP after 60 seconds. You can trigger 3 OTP at maximum.

If you fail Digital ID Verification at the first / second attempt, please try again. You have a total of 3 attempts.

When capturing your identity card, please pay attention to the follows:

  • Hold the card by its edges and do not block any parts of the card
  • Keep the entire card inside the shooting frame and adjust the card position according to the frame
  • Avoid light that may cause glare on the card
  • Remove anything covering the card, such as stickers and card sleeves, and do not cover any information on the identity card
  • Adjust the card slowly to avoid capturing out-of-focus images

 

If you fail the verification for 3 times, please kindly contact our Customer Service Representative at (852) 2198 8000, so we could make an appointment with you to perform ID Verification at any of our Business Banking Centres.

There are 3 attempts you could make. If this is the first / second time you failed Digital ID Verification, please try again. 

 

While taking selfies, it is suggested to:

  • Keep your face inside the shooting frame and adjust the head position according to the frame
  • Follow the instructions to change facial expressions
  • Avoid standing in front of a bright background
  • Remove any items or accessories that may block your face

 

If you failed 3 attempts, please kindly contact our Customer Service Representative on (852) 2198 8000. Then we would make an appointment in any of our Business Banking Centre to perform ID Verification.

The e-Confirmation / e-Sign password you created after completing Digital ID Verification is for logging in to the e-Confirmation / e-Sign portal. The password can be changed after logging in to the e-Confirmation / e-Sign portal.

HKID holders can perform Digital ID Verification. Mainland China ID holders can also perform Digital ID Verification for some application types.

For security reasons, you are required to perform Digital ID Verification if the 180-day validity period of your previous Digital ID Verification record is expired or there are other situations where verification needs to be performed again.

"iAM Smart" is a government mobile app that provides a one-stop personalised digital services platform. You can log in and use online services via "iAM Smart".

To verify your identity with "iAM Smart", please make sure you have downloaded the "iAM Smart" app on your mobile device and completed the registration. Please click here for more details.

Starting from 14 June 2024, the old Smart Identity Cards (i.e. Smart Identity Card with date of issue between 23 June 2003 and 24 November 2018) will no longer be accepted for Digital ID Verification. Nonetheless, you can complete ID Verification with one of the below approaches:

  • Perform Digital ID Verification via "iAM Smart"; or
  • Contact our Customer Service Representative at (852) 2198 8000 to arrange an appointment for ID Verification at one of our Business Banking Centres.
